We started off 2009 with our annual trip to Minnesota in January - there Rolex picked up his second major and now only requires 3 more singles for his American Championship. Our next trip will not be until August so hopefully he will come home an AM CH. The puppies all left for their new homes at the end of the January. I am such a softy I cried and cried each time one left - I know they have all gone to great homes I just hate saying goodbye. We kept two out of the litter - even though I vowed I was only keeping one, the girl was too nice to let go and I have a soft spot for the boys. So we have added two more to our fold of four legged friends - SpecialD The Best of Broadway (Porter) and SpecialD Cabaret (Liza). They will make their show debut in June – I love showing puppies so that will be a blast.
Feburary
Feb 2009
February was an amazing month! It started by heading off to New York to go to the Westminster Dog show – I did not have a dog entered so I got to relax and soak it all in. We were there for a week of shows, shopping and touring - what a blast!!! After being home for a total of 24 hours the car was packed and I was heading out to Thunder Bay to help my friend Bev with photography at the Argus Kennel Club show. Since I was going I figured may as well enter Rolex and the Whippet Stella! What a good decision that ended up being as Stella became a Multi Best In Show winner. Thank you Cec Ringstrom and Butch MacDonald. Rolex came home with three group placements, thank you Bruce Owen, Cec Ringstrom and Butch MacDonald. The following weekend it was off to Toronto for the Best of the Best Competition. Rolex placed 4th and I could not have been more proud of my home grown boy!
March
Mar 2009
March was a quiet month for dog shows as we only had one local show. Rolex placed two out of the three days in the group and Stella won the group all three days. This was the show debut for my newest whippet - Aikerskaill Jury of One - SOPHIA whom I co-own with David Markus and Harriet Lee. Sophia does not like me being in the ring with Stella and acted up at the breed level but still managed to get her first 3 points and her first Best Puppy in Group.
April
April 2009
April I ventured off to the Dalmatian Club of America National in Lawrence KS. What a long drive!!! Rolex showed beautifully, and made the cut in a large and very impressive Bred By line up. That was the first time I participated in the DCA nationals.
May
May 2009
In May David and Stella headed off to Saskatoon for a dog show and Stella won the group all three days. Thank you Gerry Taylor, Elaine and Robert Whitney. May was two more local shows for Rolex and the Whippets. At Mid Canada shows Rolex was placed in the group all three days and Sophia the Whippet was BPIG two of the three days. At the Fort Garry shows once again Rolex placed in the group all three days and Sophia was BPIG two of the three days. Thank you judges!
